Uttarakhand Char Dham Yatra : Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, Yamunotri

Chardham Yatra

Chardham Yatra is a spiritual journey to four of the most revered Hindu pilgrimage sites in the Indian Himalayas: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. These four sites are located in the Uttarakhand state of India and are considered to be the holiest of all pilgrimage sites by Hindus. The journey is believed to purify the soul and bestow blessings of peace and prosperity upon the pilgrim.

Traditionally, the Chardham Yatra is taken in a specific order: Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The journey typically starts from Haridwar and covers a distance of about 500 kilometers.

Yamunotri is the source of the Yamuna River and is dedicated to the goddess Yamuna. Gangotri is the source of the Ganges River and is dedicated to the goddess Ganga. Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines, where Lord Shiva is worshiped as a lingam of light. Badrinath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is one of the four Vaishnavite shrines in India.

Chardham Yatra attracts a large number of pilgrims every year, who come from all over India and the world to seek blessings and attain spiritual enlightenment. The journey is considered to be a challenging one, as it involves trekking through the rugged terrain of the Himalayas, but the beauty and serenity of the pilgrimage sites make it a truly enriching and fulfilling experience.
